If we focus on protection, free antivirus offer the same protection as the best paid antivirus, which is why it ranks as the best free antivirus. In fact, there are those who have antivirus on their computers that they once paid for, but stopped doing so and no longer have the updated database. This is worse than using a free antivirus, since the latter are constantly updated with the latest databases.
